We’re growing, and we’re looking for a reliable WordPress developer to bring on as an independent contractor for client project work.

This is a fully remote role, and we welcome applicants from anywhere in the world.

The Role

You’ll work on client WordPress projects, building out pages, templates, and features from provided briefs and designs. Most projects are well-scoped and self-contained, so you’ll be able to work independently once a project kicks off, checking in when you hit a decision point or a blocker.

Engagements are project-based. We’ll typically start with a smaller project to establish a working rhythm before handing off anything bigger.

What You’ll Do

Build and customize WordPress themes and plugins from provided briefs and designs
Write clean, semantic HTML with accessibility in mind
Work within the Block Editor (Gutenberg), Advanced Custom Fields, and occasionally WooCommerce
Write clean, commented, maintainable code
Collaborate asynchronously via Slack and Asana
Flag blockers, questions, or scope concerns early rather than guessing

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

Solid, demonstrable experience with WordPress (custom themes and/or plugin work, not just page builders)
Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
Comfortable working within existing codebases, not just new builds
Clear async communication: you write well, respond in a reasonable timeframe, and don’t go dark mid-project
Ability to self-manage and deliver on time with minimal supervision

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and WooCommerce
Familiarity with WCAG guidelines and accessible HTML practices
Familiarity with Full Site Editing (FSE)
Experience working within agency or multi-client environments

What This is NOT

This is not a full-time position. Work volume varies with project load.
This is not a design role. Assets and direction will be provided.
This is not a role for someone who needs heavy day-to-day oversight.
You’ll be given a clear brief and trusted to run with it.
